I was driving my car yesterday to LeSalle Park to go walking when I noticed my oil light came. I don't know a lot about cars but my Dad always said that light could be serious. I noticed across the parking lot was an AAMCO Transmission shop. Since it was so close I decided to give them a try. I spoke to Bobby the manager and he got his guys immediately on my 1993 Cadillac. Bobby came an explaied that I was pver 2 quarts of oil low and I was very lucky not to mess up the motor. He recommended either put 2 quarts of oil or just get an oil change. It was time for an oil change any way so I requested the oil change and I went for my walk. When I returned, the oil change was done and the oil light was off. I was very impressed with the service, especially because Bobby did not try and upsell me on anything else (its a 1993, I have all kinds of works that needs to be done). I think I have found me a new mechanic shop. I rate these this shop as Awesome!!

I heard a noise and a bump when my car shifted in my 2004 Nissan Maxima. The first shop I went too said it was the transmission body (something like that) and I needed a new transmission. I felt a little uncomfortable about the explanation so I decided I wanted a second opinion. A friend recommended Paul at AAMCO near Airline Hwy. I took her recommendation and went to AAMCO. They explained that I needed brakes (the noise in the front end) and a front transmission mount. I dropped the car off this morning prepared for the shop to come back with more problems. I just left the shop and nope, the bill was as promised. My Nissan is back to her old self. I Highly recommend this shop.

Finally an honest car repair shop in New Orleans which stands behind their work. Alternator replaced one time and starting problems repaired on a second car. Very Happy! After 4 bad experiences I was so happy. AThanks

Nice people! My car was making a weird noise so a co-worker recomended that I bring my car to Paul (the owner) at AAMCO. Apparently, I must have hit something in the road while driving. A piece of wire was hung up under the car which was making the noise. Paul had his guys remove the wire. Now I have no more weird noises. Fast service. I was in and out in less than 30 min.

Best Mechanics I've ever been to! Personable & Self-less Bottom-Line: Please ignore the other review! These guys are characters, find creative solutions and care about their patrons. Their aim was to save me money and spent hours with me each and every day explaining every detail about my car, as well as chatting and joking with us to keep our spirits up in a bad situation: broken down in an unfamiliar place. The Aamco name has been tarnished by others, but the honest craftsmanship of this shop is the saving grace. Full Review: Last month my transmission broke right in the middle of the twin span bridge outside of New Orleans. After being towed and arriving at the shop, these gentlemen diagnosed the car with an engine diagnostics computer, checked my charred transmission oil and found that it had self-destructed. We talked for hours every day that we were there and they broke down every detail about the transmission, how it worked, why it broke, preventative maintenance - among other topics. Because we were on a road trip and were stranded in an unfamiliar place, they ordered a part they needed with priority mail and got us back on the road in just 3 days. They also helped us get to our hotels when we needed it and told us all about downtown. They turned a sour situation into a decent one and cared enough to talk about every detail, despite the fact that they were extremely busy. If I'm ever in New Orleans again, I will visit them just to say hey there! Its this kind of caring in a business that reminds me of 1950s America you hear about in stories. I highly and sincerely recommend them!
