Both of the reviews below me are total crap, I WORKED at Alamo for about a year or so. The owner, Joe is an awesome person and so are most of the people who work there. If you got laughed at its probably because you were making a ridiculous request or were just plain being ignorant. Its a business, a pawn shop, not a good-will style charity. They purchase things at low prices in order to re-sell at a low price and hopefully make a little profit in the middle. You have to understand EXACTLY how a pawn shop style business works in order to be able to make comments like you did. It is not Joe or any one else's fault that you were in a situation where you had to sell something for cheap in order to scratch by... We are all in crappy situations, man up, get a JOB, and stop blaming the world for your problems! Shout out to all the folks @ Alamo, Joe, Steph, Travis, even Eddie lol, ;)

I've been shopping & selling here for years and every time they are so nice that I tell myself, I'm gonna go give 'em a good review & I'm finally getting around to it. I've been buying and reselling, estate-sales & the like for years & Alamo Pawn is by far the best pawn shop in San Antonio. They give much better deals than the big national chains (why do u think there's thousands of those chain stores? They don't give as good of deals = more profits = more stores everywhere!) The people at Alamo really work with you like a good old fashioned locally owned company should. I saw that other bad review & suspect this guy went in there expecting to get nearly the same amount that he originally paid for something which is just silly & then just got mad. Anyway, the sales people are so nice, they don't hound you when you're shopping, or make u feel weird for having to pawn something. They test all their stuff so I know I'm not going to get something that's broke. Anyway, this San Antonio based shop has a way better selection than those chains, has way better deals and are way friendlier too, I wouldn't dream of going anywhere else.
