Great Christian college I went to Eastern Nazarene College in the early 2000s and loved it there. It's a great Christian college -- right here in Massachusetts, where I'm from! It's near Boston, thankfully, so there's a lot to do, and it's just a couple of blocks from the beach. And my professors were pretty amazing, not just as professors but as people. Incredible atmosphere. A small school, so really personal and community-oriented. I made some amazing friends while I was a student there, and really grew in my faith, too. Five stars for ENC!

Perfect for me I looked at several colleges before I chose Eastern Nazarene. I wanted a college with a strong sense of community, a great humanities program, and location in or near Boston, if possible. I was also extremely happy that ENC is not at all a party school. When I compared financial aid, and the package at ENC was better than the other schools', that really helped seal the deal. It was a perfect situation for me. One of my favorite things about the College was that it's a five-minute walk to the beach, and the nearest T station is a ten-minute walk in the other direction. Quiet, residential, and close to a beach, but near a subway station -- how sweet is that? ENC's campus is really very beautiful, too.

The South Shore's Best-Kept Secret I had friends at ENC who were accepted to Harvard College or Dartmouth College, but it seemed like we all wanted a different kind of community from the average secular college or university. My professors at Eastern Nazarene had great credentials, but knew me by name and would chat with me one-on-one, too. I still keep in touch with some of the professors, which is great. The chair of the physics department actually has a dual-appointment at Harvard, which is pretty incredible. And I've come to realize that the size of the College, combined with the faculty quality, is probably one of the reasons I had classmates who actually beat out MIT students for competitive internships. I had friends who got into graduate school at Harvard with full scholarships, which is cool, but it's more fun to know that your friends at a small Christian liberal arts college can actually outperform those students at the undergraduate level, too. Sometimes, you really need to be there to understand how awesome ENC is, though -- it really offers a lot more than it advertises. I constantly hear it referred to as the best kept secret on the South Shore . I figured that would make a good title for my review. =]

Great, small college. People are friendly, but graduates seem to do very impressive things (presidents of YMCA, Red Cross, Harvard Medical School, et cetera). Seem to be good at what they do, and that seems to be doing a lot to change the world. Gorgeous campus.
