Beautiful Lobby - Charming Rooms We loved the Hotel. The lobby is vintage and fabulous well as the furniture. Very beautiful. The rooms are small by the standards of 2008, but it was a step back in time and quite wonderful. The view of the city is fun, the doorman was charming and extremely helpful with parking, dinner suggestions, etc. The morning crew was not so friendly, got to change that. Even the sign on top of the building is great, an easy way to find a place. We understand that the place will be remodeled soon, and we will be back for sure.

Absolutely great. The staff was wonderful from Sam the manager who was able to fit us in to TIM at paddys pub. Even the gift store employee was very friendly and helpful. The hotel was beautiful. The beds were so comfortable. The rooftop bar overlooking the city was a great asset and we were within walking distance to great live music restaraunts and shopping. Can't wait to come back good job!!!!

This is an excellent and recently-renovated (2010) period hotel constructed in 1928. I have stayed here many times and find nothing to complain of. It has authentic period elegance, as opposed to the cheesy faux elegance you get in modern hotels. While the rooms are not as large as those in most modern hotels, they are tidy and clean, and the beds are comfortable. A rooftop lounge was recently added (see web site at http://www.alexjohnson.com/) and it's way cool. In the center of downtown, so close to restaurants, parks, and shopping. Be sure to check out the Prairie Edge, a half block away, which has a gallery and huge collection of authentic Native American arts, crafts, blankets, books, clothing, and so forth, including craft materials, patterns and so forth. As for the ghosts, I once stayed in room 812 and was surprised to discover later that it is allegedly haunted. Ghost Hunters did one of their inane pseudo-scientific investigations here (link is on the website above). View it and judge for yourself.

Comfortable and convenient We stayed for only one night after visiting Mount Rushmore, Badlands etc. and were very impressed by this hotel. The room was clean and comfortable, and it was nice to stay in a place with some character. The location was convenient for the local bars and restaurants. The hotel restaurant was being refurbished while we were there in March 2010, which meant there was no breakfast, but for what we paid for the room that was not a big deal.
