good place! I am French and I spent 2 nights in that Hostel. After having read the reviews, I was anxious. I booked a private room. I was very suprised: nice place, clean and good people! Maybe I came at a good moment but if I go again to Houston, I will book a room in that Hostel!

I went to the Friend Hostel and in the end I stayed at Houston International Hostel. - The Friend's Hostel location looks weird, but everybody in the office was great. A little bit too small and separate houses in a stranger neighborhood. $35 for a private room. - The Houston International hostel is a big old Texas house, very well decorate, with great people, in a good neighborhood, close to the grocery store, you will feel more protect here. $25 for a private room Houston doesn't have so many options of Hostels, so any of them are good. Have fun!

More Hippie than Hipster This hostel is more in the hippie vein than the hipster, but if you're looking for a clean well run place for cheap this is your hostel. The staff is friendly and helpful and there are a lot of museums and a park in the area plus a light rail station about 6 blocks away gives you easy access to the rest of the city. Everything here is ala carte, towels cost extra, internet cost extra and there is no breakfast. Personally this is to my tastes as I would rather just pay for what I use but regular hostellers might be a little taken aback. If I am ever looking for a cheap place to stay in Houston I will definitely be back.

Awesome I had a great time here. The staff was super friendly and helpful, and loved to hang out and chat. Tons of cool and fun characters around- and the visitors were all fun. Cheap too. Made a bunch of friends there, and I'll definitely be back! I don't understand any haters who commented here- this is a classic hostel- don't know what they were expecting, but its frustrating to read what some say. The place is clean, and perfectly located in the Montrose neighborhood, where you'll find the best bars and things to do. the other great neighborhood is the heights. Tough to get around Houston without a car, try and rent one. Rave review!
