I've lived in Japan for a total of 5 years in 3 different places, and this restaurant is by far one of the best kaiseki meals I've ever had, and certainly in NYC. When I worked at the Japanese Mission to the UN, this restaurant was considered one of the special places to go to.

A lot has been said about this place already so what can I add? The food is obviously amazing. But there's a personal touch that sets this place apart from other top restaurants--the service is outstanding, but sort of down-home, with personal recommendations and extensive description of each course. Loved it.

iron chefs flown in from japan. the entire experience is a tasting menu with custom dishes the chef prepares. even the secret bathroom will make you think you were transported to another world. this is my favorite restaurant on earth, bar none.
