Great Salon Several years ago I was introduced to Salon Ivy by a friend. Brian the owner has always gone out of his way to accommodate me. The first time he cut my hair I was trusting him with a drastic change and he went out of his way to ensure I was getting what I wanted. He has consistently provided great service and has great skill. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a great stylist! Was this review helpful?

Brian worked in me and a friend of mine on very short notice. She wanted a cut and color and I just wanted a cut, so he worked us into the same appointment. He started her color, then did my cut, then finished her color/cut. It worked out well and we got to visit the whole time which was nice. I really like my cut and will stick with him for future cuts. He was even able to tell what I had had done to my hair over 2 years ago by looking at the highlight growth I had on the ends! That was very impressive. He gave me some tips on what shampoos to use and told me what the ones I was currently using are doing to my hair and why they aren't good. I am very happy with my first experience at Salon Ivy!!Was this review helpful?

Brian told me he loved my hair. It's pretty amazing what that does to your own perception of what your hair is and can be. I told him my hair was usually pretty intimidating to stylists so I try to have a straight-forward request. But he made suggestions, he used techniques and products that were MADE for my hair. I had only heard stories about people who loved working with curls, and now I've found the reality. He made me feel good about my hair, he saw where I wanted to go with it and he just went there. I walked out with tons of products and a BOOK and TOWEL made especially for my hair type. I have a hair type!! I'm not just some odd ball with hair no one can handle! Wheeeee!!!Was this review helpful?

I first visited Salon Ivy when found Brian Ivy's name listed as a DevaCurl certified stylist. Brian Ivy (the owner) called me back within a few hours and actually sounded excited to cut and style my naturally curly hair! I made an appointment for a week later, and Brian spent 2 hours with me for my first consultation and cut. He cut my hair dry using the Deva method. I was itching for a shorter 'do, and while he did cut it shorter, he was very cautious not to get scissor-happy and cut too much. I left that day with the best haircut I have ever had. We talked about some Pintura highlights, and even though I was nervous because I had never colored my hair before, we made an appointment for about a month later. When I returned, he used the Pintura method and painstakingly separated each curl and painted half of each one around my entire head. He promised it would be subtle and natural-looking, and the highlights look wonderful! Another bonus at Salon Ivy is a stylist named Sharin. One of her many talents is shaping and tinting eyebrows. She grabbed me on the day I highlighted my hair and shaped, tweezed, and tinted my very thin, light colored eyebrows. They have never looked so good! I have since seen Sharin for a haircut and she did an excellent job as well. Was this review helpful?

Rachel is amazing! She actually paid attention to what makes my head and hair unique and gave me the best cut I've ever had. She'll take however much time she needs to actually get the job done right. I've been going to different hair places in Anchorage for years and have finally settled on Salon Ivy (good riddance to some of the better known salons nearby). Was this review helpful?
